C7 Voicing One

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This video lesson demonstrates using one of four C7 voicings and one fingering of the pentatonic scale played over a simple bass groove that outlines a C7 chord,

Practicing in one small area like this is one of the keys to making it easier to learn the entire fretboard.

Great exercise Bob. Can you write in some other spots with different but related tonality that might eventually be connected, as in standard progressions (I-IV, I-V, I-IV-V, etc.)?
I\’ve played percussion professionally for decades and have listened to and studied theoretically a lot of music. The end result is that I now understand a lot of things conceptually, and my ears can recognize many musical elements as well, I just don\’t know where to \"put my fingers\" to make these same sounds. This exercise is great in that it stays at home in one area enough that I can play and explore a small section of the fretboard without things breaking down. I know that is your stated goal with this and it works very well.

    Bob,

    Well done !
Einstein once was to have said, “Make everything as simple as possible, but no simpler.”
    You have succeeded.

Bob that was great. So simple yet so impressive. A great example of how less can sometimes be more…if you catch my drift. Thanks for posting it. It’s given me loads of ideas.

    Hey Bob,

I think The pentatonic scale you use is a great one in the fact that it works different sets of 2 fingers and is good practice to keep your fingers in position.

    Thnaks again for the tips
